ANOTHER 288 FILIPINOS IN SHANGHAI RECEIVE EMERGENCY FOOD SUPPLIES IN SECOND ROUND OF DFA-PCG WELFARE AID

27 May 2022 (Republic of Philippines Department Of Foreign Affairs) Another 288 Filipinos across Shanghai received emergency food packs on 22-24 May 2022 amidst the lockdown in the city.

On 07-09 May, 247 Filipinos benefited from the first round of deliveries, for a total 535 beneficiaries for the two rounds.

The deliveries, undertaken by a third-party provider, represent the second batch of emergency food aid to Filipinos most affected by lockdown-related food supply challenges, under Welfare Assistance approved by the Department of Foreign Affairs on the recommendation of the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Shanghai.

Each beneficiary received multiple packages. Apart from essential food items such as rice, eggs, fresh vegetables and fruits, cooking oil and dry goods, they also received a taste of home via a selection of locally available Philippine-branded canned fish and meat products, noodles, soup mixes, sauces, biscuits, snack items, and condiments.
